Santa...

Oh Santa....Well we all know that Nicoletta is not exactly the bravest kid in the world, outspoken and opinionated yes but brave not exactly. My brother adoringly refers to it as her defense mechanism and says that it's a good thing she doesn't just jump right into things so for the sake of staying positive we'll go with that explanation. For example when we went to a festival this summer with all of her cousins while they all rode the little kiddie rides she stayed with us, still having an EXCELLENT time just watching rather than participating. I digress....

So this year was the age old question of would she or wouldn't she got sit on Santa's lap. Our track record goes something like this...1st Christmas (8 Months): Sat on his lap, smiled and had a great time, 2nd Christmas (20 Months): Wouldn't even get on the line to go see him, completely refused. This year, well let's start off with the fact that she said she didn't want to go see him, she kept telling me she didn't want to. Then we convinced her that she had to go with Luca and she was responsible for telling Santa what Luca wanted since he can't talk which she was willing to do. So he came to her school and when Johnny was dropping her off they saw "Santa" walking in ahead of them so John said "hey look honey there's Santa!" Santa apparently heard him say that so he stopped and waited for John and Nicoletta to catch up. That little thing just walked right up to him and said "Oh hey Santa, so for Christmas I want...." and started rattling off her list! So with this I decided to seize the opportunity and take her to the mall the next day to get my Santa picture! We got all dressed up and off we went, when we got there the line was too bad we waited patiently and finally we get up to the front we're next to go 60 minutes later! So as I'm getting ready thinking that we get to step through next, WE GET CUT OFF, why you ask oh well because Santa had to go feed the Reindeer FOR 35 MINUTES!!! Luckily Luca fell asleep in the stroller so I could focus all of my attention on keeping the 2 1/2 year old occupied and interested in what we were doing. To make a long story short this was my Santa picture this year....

That's right 95 minutes later she wouldn't go near the jolly old fella, she was literally hiding in my jacket on the back of the stroller!

I should have known when she didn't even want to take a picture with her brother! Remind me next year NOT to try and tackle Santa alone with 2 kids!!
